Katsina Judiciary appoints first female Chief Registrar

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC), has appointed Dr Basira Umar Esq, as the first female Chief Registrar of Katsina State High Court of Justice, since the creation of the state in 1987.

This was announced in a statement signed and issued to newsmen in Katsina on Saturday, by Malam Musa Usman, Director Protocols of the state's High Court of Justice.

According to him, the appointment follows the retirement of Mr Mustapha Hassan-Rumah Esq, from service, as the chief Registrar.

He explained that the Chief Registrar is the Chief Accounting officer, responsible for the court's financial matters including budget preparation and management.

“The Chief Registrar also serves as the administrative head of the Judiciary overseeing its day-to-day operations. 

“Until her appointment, the new chief registrar was the Director (Deputy Chief Registrar) Multi Door Court,” he said.
